“Before I began my fitness journey I was not at a happy point in my life. The terrible thoughts that I had about myself filled my head which caused me to have an incredibly negative outlook. I also suffered from having problems with binge eating. I looked towards food as a form of comfort and as an outlet for my frustration. My confidence was so low that I began avoid large group settings. Since then I have made such a change in my lifestyle. My mental, physical, and spiritual health all have improved so much just from that lifestyle change!

Throughout  my life I have always stayed fairly active through playing on sports teams when I was younger. After sports ended for me, my eating began to catch up to me. I began to gain a lot of weight and instead of trying to fix that, I looked towards food for comfort. I never realized how awful I felt until I finally took charge and made a change in my life. I got a job at a local gym my senior year of high school, when I was feeling my absolute worst. Working there really did change my life. I finally decided to take action because of seeing so many other people changing their lives. I wanted to be a part of that.

I finally started working out and it became my passion. I started to notice my body changing, not only in how it looked, but what it could do! I started to incorporate a healthier diet because I was not going to let food have that power over me anymore. I wanted to live my life for me. It’s so hard to turn off our natural way to cope with things, so this was by far the biggest struggle for me.

Now, almost 3 years later, my thoughts have completely shifted from negative to positive and I can do so much more than I would have imagined! This lifestyle has created the version of myself that I’ve always wanted to be. I’m constantly trying to be better than I was the day before and always reinforcing positive thoughts! And, I have a much better relationship with food! Fitness has taught me to work hard, that I can dream big and achieve it, and that I am worth SO much more than a single negative thought. This journey has been tough, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world!”
